SEPANG: A Turkmenistan Airlines maiden flight carrying 52 passengers arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this evening, making it the sixty-fourth international carrier to be serving at the airport.
The airline, which utilised the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, will now operate one flight weekly on the Ashgabat-Kuala Lumpur, and vice-versa route, every Thursday.
Malaysia Airports Managing Director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said Turkmenistan Airlines' presence will further promote KLIA's status as a preferred hub in the region.
“Travellers have the option to use KLIA via Turkmenistan Airlines as a connector to the other parts of Europe and Asia,
“I am confident this bilateral relationship will also increase the image and prestige of Turkmenistan Airlines as a transportation conduit among air travellers in this region,” he said during a special ceremony to mark the arrival at KLIA, this evening.
Also present were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi, and Turkmenistan National State Service Deputy Chief Executive Tanryguly Gurbanmuhammedov.
