Three-tonne lorry cause 10km traffic jam

NILAI: An overturned three-tonne lorry carrying food and water caused 10 kilometre traffic congestion on the North-South Expressway (southbound) this morning.

Nilai Fire and Rescue Department operation officer Sharim Simin said in the 9.46 am incident, the lorry was believed to have skidded and overturned across the third and fourth lanes of the expressway after its tyre burst.

"The lorry driver and the passenger survived the accident with minor bruises. They were helped by other motorists who stopped to help them get out.

"They are currently treated at Hospital Tunku Ja'afar in Seremban," he told New Straits Times earlier.

There were five firemen at the location to clear the vehicle.
