Jalan Alor upgrade starts in June

KUALA LUMPUR: The long awaited RM12 million upgrading of Jalan Alor will start in June.

Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib who was speaking to reporters after a meeting with KL MPs, said that upgrading work on the popular food haven will commence in June.

"The project is expected to be completed in 18 months," said Phesal, adding that it was a complex process as it involved relocating pipes and utilities' wiring among others.

Jalan Alor has been slated for an upgrade since October 2013, when Phesal first announced plans to upgrade into a world class food centre.

The upgrading project includes a new layout for food stalls, improved drainage and better street furniture.

Phesal said that City Hall had already conducted engagements with the relevant stakeholders and that most of them were supportive of the initiative.
