KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims in the country must be aware of matters that threaten the unity of the community and overcome them said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Najib, who was speaking at the Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) National Dakwah Awards said dakwah if practised could unite communities.
Najib, said that in this respect, dakwah could help resolve problems amongst Muslims and also in issues between Muslims and non-Muslims.
In his speech, Najib also highlighted the important role that dakwah played in producing Muslims that contributed to the nation's development.
The awards ceremony honours outstanding individuals and organisations involved in dakwah activities around the country.
Present at the ceremony was Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Major-Gen Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Yadim Chairman, Senator Datuk Dr Asyraf Dusuki.
Dakwah in Islam refers to the practice of inviting others to the religion not merely by preaching but also via one’s actions and deeds.
