Halal System targets 60 million users

PUTRAJAYA: The recently-launched Halal Certificate Management System (HCMS) will help the Halal Verified Engine’s (HVE) target of garnering 60 million users with about 80 certification bodies within the next five years.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the system was also aimed be used in 50 countries with more than 300,000 halal suppliers by 2020.

“HCMS is an improvement to the existing HVE as it offered more stringent security features for Halal certification bodies to process certification more efficiently,” he said when launching the HCMS during the Sixth Halal Certification Bodies Convention welcoming dinner, earlier this evening.

The convention was held in conjunction with the World Halal Summit 2015 (WHS 2015) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) that takes place from March 30 to April 4.

Jamil said HCMS also enabled the Halal certification bodies to manage large-scale data seamlessly, while improving efficiency, productivity and reduced costs.
