Weststar secures RM370m contract to provide helicopter services

KUALA LUMPUR: Weststar Aviation Services Sdn Bhd (WASSB) has secured a RM370 million contract to provide two AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters for Carigali Hess Operating Company and Carigali PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn Bhd.

In a statement today, Weststar said both companies would be utilising its new generation 15-seater medium sized twin-engine AW139 helicopter platform to expand operations for oil and gas exploration under the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority.

It added the contract was for the operation of the two helicopters from its base in Kota Baharu, Kelantan, and spans five years effective today.

“It is a timely boost for WASSB’s strategic expansion to further consolidate our standing in markets where our clients operate.

“In addition, we are delighted to build another long-term relationship with them as we look to grow our regional footprint, particularly in the emerging ASEAN markets,” said Director of Business Development, Datuk Anuar Noordin.

WASSB is currently the largest provider of offshore helicopter transportation services in Southeast Asia.

At present, WASSB owns/operates a fleet of AgustaWestland and Sikorsky helicopters used exclusively to provide offshore support services for multinational oil and gas companies. -- BERNAMA
