JOHOR BARU: A 20-year-old man was feared to have drowned after he went swimming in a recreational lake in Jalan Bukit Impian near Taman Impian Emas this afternoon.
Taman Universiti Fire and Rescue Department senior officer Ezam Mistorerrodin confirmed the station had received an emergency call regarding the drowning incident at around 3.20 pm and had immediately deployed a rescue team which arrived 10 minutes later.
"The search and rescue operation is still on going. The victim is believe to have swam on the lake as a short cut to get across to the other side," he said.
He said two teams from the Taman Universiti and Larkin fire stations are involved in the operation.
