Johor FA sacks JDT II goalkeeper over vulgarities charge

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Football Association (JFA) has dropped Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) goalkeeper Mohd Anis Faron Ahmad after he was charged in the Georgetown Magistrate's Court in Penang on Tuesday for hurling vulgarities at police.

JFA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said the action to drop Mohd Anis was made as his actions had jeopardised the team's image.

"There is no use for us to keep a football player that failed to display discipline as a professional player," he said at the Tan Sri Datuk Hj Hassan Yunos stadium in Larkin here today.

On April 3, the 33-year-old goalkeeper was accused of hurling vulgarities at police personnel at the City Stadium in Penang after a Premier League match.

On Tuesday, Anis claimed trial to the offence under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by a five-year prison sentence and fine or both.

Tunku Ismail said Anis was released from JDT II due to his case.
