PRAI: The three suspects involved in the theft of luxury cars at Pendang, Kedah this morning have escaped with a stolen green Golf GTI from the Juru Volkswagen showroom located in Bukit Mertajam this afternoon.
The car belonged to one of the customers who was servicing the car at the time in the outlet.
In the 2.25pm incident, the suspects obtained security passes from the guard on the pretext of visiting the showroom.
"However, instead of the showroom they drove the initial stolen red Proton Persona to the servicing area and picked up the car with its keys still inside belonging to one of our customer.
"By the time the customer ran out to activate the alarm, they had escaped the premises," said Juru Volkswagen security manager who wish to remain anonymous.
According to the guard, the suspects fooled him by claiming the car belonged to one of them and would like to test drive the car after servicing.
Juru Volkswagen and the security guard had lodged a police report at Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district police headquarters after the incident.
SPT OCPD Assistant Commissioner Rusli Mohd Noor could not be reached for confirmation.
