Kuala Lumpur: Veteran actress Mariani Ismail celebrated her 82nd birthday in a small yet significant ceremony in Saloma Bistro and Restaurant, Jalan Ampang here yesterday.
The event at 8pm was attended by more than 100 guests who included family, friends and the restaurant's owner Tan Sri Syed Yusof Syed Nasir.
Among the guests from the entertainment world were her daughter, singer and actress Rozita Rohaizad, singer Salmah Ahmad, actors Mak Jah, Dian P Ramlee, Zed Zaidi, Ijoy Azhari and Aman Naseem, filmmaker Rashid Sibir and television personality Sharifah Shahirah.
Mariani said she celebrated her birthdays and Hari Raya open houses annually at Saloma as it was established in honour of her late younger sister, the legendary singer and actress Puan Sri Saloma.
Her birthday came a day after she was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the P Ramlee Tribute Film Awards 2015 in Angkasapuri, jointly organised by Suhan Movies and RTM.
