Bursa Malaysia easier on profit-taking

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session easier today on profit-taking especially in small-caps, finance and banking stocks.

At lunch break, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended at 1,851.19, down 3.58 points.

RHB Cap fell 21 sen to RM7.99, CIMB eased two sen to RM6.22, Public Bank and AMMB lost four sen each to RM19.58 and RM6.40 respectively.

On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers by 355 to 280, while 373 counters were unchanged, 797 untraded and 11 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.06 billion lots worth RM653.13 million.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index lost 16.69 points to 12,747.38 and FBMT100 Index contracted 14.81 points to 12,418.86.

The FBM Emas Syariah Index increased 10.54 points to 13,282.88.

Meanwhile, the FBM 70 rose 18.92 points to 13,748.95 and FBM Ace increased 36.89 points to 7,417.36.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index gained 3.18 points to 3,400.62 and the Plantation Index improved 12.36 points to 7,684.43. The Finance Index dropped 140.55 points for 16,345.76.

Among actives, Icon Offshore eased 6.5 sen to 62 sen and Frontken slipped half-a-sen to 28.5 sen.Nova added one sen to 23.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, TNB and Axiata added two sen each to RM14.50 and RM7.00 respectively. Sime Darby slipped one sen to RM9.26. – Bernama
