Permatang Pauh by-election: Wan Azizah denies sabotage

BUKIT MERTAJAM: PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had toned down the threat of internal sabotage among Pakatan Rakyat allies in the Permatang Pauh by-election.

When asked by reporters whether there were any attempt to sabotage her campaigns, she said: "Tak, alhamdulillah (No, thank God)."

Wan Azizah, who is facing a four-cornered fight against Barisan Nasional, Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) and an independent candidate, said she would leave it to the Permatang Pauh voters to decide on the best person to represent their voice.

"It all lies in the hands of the voters. I think that there is a blessing in disguise (for all this)," she said after the nomination process at the Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Bukit Mertajam here yesterday.

It was reported that Permatang Pauh Pas division had demanded for Azizah and PKR leaders to apologise for criticising Pas move to push for hudud law in Kelantan or risk being boycotted by Pas machinery in the by-election.

In the May 7 by-election, Dr Wan Azizah will go up against BN candidate Suhaimi Sabudin, PRM candidate Azman Shah Othman and an independent candidate Salleh Isahak.
