Permatang Pauh by-election: Independent candidate Salleh denies links to political parties

KEPALA BATAS: Permatang Pauh by-election sole independent candidate Salleh Isahak today clarified that he was no longer active in any political party.

As such, the former member of Pas and Umno said he was prepared to be sacked by both parties since he had not been active in politics since 2001.

The president of Pertubuhan Bakti Ikhlas Malaysia (Perbaik) said he was more comfortable moving on the non-governmental organisation platform which he recently formed.

Salleh said he had also lodged a police report following allegations by certain quarters that he was a PKR member in Permatang Pauh division.

"I regret that certain quarters for sabotaging me by spreading false information that I am a PKR member and holding the post of Permatang Pauh PKR secretary, " he said in a press conference here today.

Salleh is facing a four-cornered fight with Barisan Nasional, PKR and Parti Rakyat Malaysia in the by-election.
