FBM KLCI almost flat at mid-day on mixed sentiment

KUALA LUMPUR: The key index on Bursa Malaysia was almost flat at mid-day as mixed sentiment weighed on buying patterns, a dealer said. At mid-day break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.29 point firmer at 1,862.87, after moving between 1,860.26 and 1,867.53. However, market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers by 420 to 270, while 324 counters were unchanged, 801 untraded and 24 others suspended. Turnover stood at 976.64 billion shares worth RM775.17 million.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM9.42, TNB rose two sen to RM14.62, Public Bank advanced four sen to RM19.74 and Axiata was down by eight sen to RM6.91. Among actives, Compugates was flat at 5.5 sen, Vsolar Group fell half-a-sen to 35.5 sen, KNM Group inched down 3.5 sen to 65.5 sen and Frontken Corporation was one sen lower at 28 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index fell 6.76 points to 12,805.97, the FBMT100 Index edged down 5.61 points to 12,481.91 and the FBM Emas Shariah decreased 10.87 points to 13,342.68.

The FBM Ace declined 26.23 points to 7,330.53, while the FBM 70 gave up 35.10 points to 13,760.19. Sector-wise, the Finance Index added 2.38 points to 16,425.17, the Plantation Index went down 10.63 points to 7,738.90 and the Industrial Index eased 4.24 points to 3,411.92.
