BN's man eating healthily to keep fit for his campaign runs

ROMPIN: Barisan Nasional's candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin is watching his diet to stay healthy during the by-election campaign period.

"I have a light meal for dinner and watch what I eat.

"I want to ensure that I do not over eat. I still look young, right?"

Hasan, 62, told reporters this after meeting Orang Asli in their Sungai Gadak settlement today.

He is up against Pas' Nazri Ahmad in the Rompin by-election on May 5.

The by-election was called following the death of Member of Parliament Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis in a helicopter crash in Semenyih, Selangor on April 4.

Hasan said he had also taken health supplements to maintain his fitness during the campaign rounds as he had a gruelling schedule in the days ahead.

He said since the campaign started on April 22, his days started right after Subuh prayer and he only retired to bed past midnight.

On his meeting with Orang Asli, he said he would look into resolving their issues such as providing clean water, education opportunities, land and uplifting their economy.

"Orang Asli here will not be side-lined. I am committed to helping them and bringing changes to the community.

"As of today, I have covered nearly 70 per cent of the constituency to reach out to the people," said the father of four, who was dressed in the Orang Asli headgear weaved from leaves during the visit.
