Two arrested for drunk-driving in Ops Roda

SEREMBAN: Two men were arrested under Ops Roda for drunk-driving.

The joint operation by Seremban district traffic police and Road Transport Department (RTD) also seized one car and one motorbike.

Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Zaki Harun said 182 vehicles were checked during the two-hour operation, which started at midnight.

“Police issued 49 summonses while RTD dispensed 64 notices from the road-block at Jalan Stesen, Jalan Datuk Hamzah, Jalan Raja Ali and Jalan Sungai Ujong.

“Seventy-three violations detected, including driving without license and invalid road tax,” he said.

Zaki said during the operation, some motorists were willing to risk their life by going against the traffic flow to avoid the road-block.

“Two teenagers lifted up their motorbikes and ride on the pavement to evade the road-block at Jalan Stesen.

“Upon interrogation, they confessed that they were doing so as they were riding without license,” he said.

He said similar operation would be continued in the town to ensure motorists abide the law and reduce the accident rate.
