The issue of affordable homes has always been my priority: PM Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the rakyat's welfare will always be prioritised especially in developing affordable homes for Felda settlers.

"The issue of being able to own affordable homes has always been my priority for the benefit of all Malaysians, including Felda settlers," he said via his tweet today.

He also wished for the ground breaking ceremony by deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim in Felda Keratong 10, Rompin, to go smoothly.

Najib had yesterday said the new homes, built for the second generation of Felda settlers, would be sold for RM90,000 per unit instead of the initial price of RM125,000.

"By understanding the issues faced (by the second generation of Felda settlers) and requests for the price to be reviewed, I have instructed Felda director-general Datuk Hanapi Suhada to review the price structure of homes that we offered," he said in a statement posted in the Prime Minister's Office Facebook page.

Najib said he hoped the new generation of Felda settlers, particularly those in Rompin, who dream of owning their own homes would be realised.
