Latest: Barisan Nasional has retained Rompin Parliamentary seat

Rompin by-election polling day today will see a straight fight between Rompin Umno division acting chief Datuk Hasan Arifin of Barisan Nasional and Pahang PAS Youth chief Nazri Ahmad.

10.22pm: Barisan Nasional has retained Rompin Parliamentary seat with 8,895 majority

10pm: Barisan Nasional's candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin is leading the race in the Rompin by-election with a 5,661-vote majority.

The tally is reached after ballot papers from 80 boxes of the total 120 have been counted so far.

Returning officer Datuk Fadzilla Salleh announced that Hasan garnered 14,828 votes against Pas' Nazri Ahmad who obtained 9,167 votes.

Joining Hasan at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall here tonight were Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan and state BN leaders.

5.00pm: At the close of polling, 72.8 per cent of voters had cast their ballots.

4.00 pm: 38,843 or 72 per cent of voters had cast their ballot.

Noon: Total of 29,935 or 56.2 per cent of voters had cast their ballot

11.00 am: A total of 24,438 people or 45.9pc of voters had cast their votes

8.37am : Pas candidate Nazri Ahmad casts his vote at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Felda Keratong 5

8.35 am : BN candidate Hasan Arifin cast his vote at SK Leban Chondong.

8.00 am : Polling for the Rompin by-election involving 52,744 voters at 38 polling centres began.
