MIHAS 2015 generates RM1.1 billion sales

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas 2015) has raked in RM1.1 billion in total sales over its four-day trade show last month.

In a statement today, the Malaysia External Trade and Development Corporation (Matrade) said out of the total, some RM655.8 million sales were generated from the showcase and the remaining RM443.2 million was from Mihas’s annual one-day incoming buying mission (IBM).

The IBM attracted 487 foreign buyers involving 307 companies from 41 countries, while there were a total of 2,787 pre-arranged business meetings between international companies and 850 Malaysian exporters from 465 local companies, it said.

“As Malaysia’s trade promotion agency, we will continue to promote halal products and services to markets abroad.

“We are working closely with our partner countries including those in ASEAN, Europe, Africa, South Korea and Japan,” said Matrade Deputy Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud.

Mihas was part of the inaugural World Halal Summit 2015, which was complemented by various conferences featuring 82 influential speakers and panellists from 18 countries discussing topics on future global halal developments.

Mihas 2015, with the participation of 549 local and international exhibitors from 20 countries, attracted 23,107 trade visitors, up 10.4 per cent from last year’s edition. – Bernama
