BN retains Rompin Parliamentary seat with 8,895 majority

ROMPIN: Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin won in the Rompin by-election with a 8,895-vote majority tonight.

Returning officer Datuk Fadzilla Salleh announced that Hasan garnered 23,796 votes against Pas' Nazri Ahmad who obtained 14,901 votes.

The Rompin by-election was held following the death of Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis in a helicopter crash on April 4, in Semenyih, Selangor.

Joining Hasan to celebrate his win at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall here were Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan and state BN leaders.

In the 2013 general election, Jamaluddin retained the Rompin seat with a majority of 15,114 votes against Pas' Noridah Salleh
