KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak congratulates Barisan Nasional and candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin on winning Rompin by-election.
“BN will take this (win) as a challenge and I am confident that Datuk Hasan Arifin will render excellent service to bring development and progress in Rompin. Hidup Barisan Nasional!” he said in a Facebook posting earlier.
Meanwhile, in congratulating Hasan, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a statement said the win reflects the trust and confidence shown by the people towards to party.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to the voters who have elected BN’s candidate in the by-election. I would like to also congratulate and thank BN’s by-election machinery that has been working tirelessly during the campaign period to ensure the win,” he said
Hasan won with 8,895 vote majority against Pas’ Nazri Ahmad (BN 23,796; Pas 14,901).
The by-election was called following the death of MP Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis on April 4 in a helicopter crash in Semenyih, Selangor.
