DPM to launch Malaysia's Pavilion at World Expo Milano 2015

MILAN: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who begins his three-day working visit here tomorrow (May 7), will launch Malaysia's Pavilion at World Expo Milano 2015.

The expo, which was held for the first time in 1914 and is the largest of its kind, showcases participating countries' technologies in ensuring food sustainability.

Open to the public from May 1 to Oct 31, some 20 million visitors from around the world are expected to visit its 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area.

Malaysian Embassy in Rome charge d'affaires Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi said 148 countries were taking part in the expo this year, which would provide Malaysia a platform to display its development from an agricultural country to what it is today, as well as promote trade and investment.

Malaysia's theme is Towards A Sustainable Food Ecosystem.

"The deputy prime minister will launch Malaysia's Pavilion on May 8. Also expected to be present are Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, and Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

"He will later visit the pavilions of other countries, among them that of the host, and other European as well as Asean countries," he said at a Press conference with Malaysian media.

Muhyiddin will also hold a roundtable meeting with 30 Italian captains of industry during his visit.
