MCA Wanita chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie demand apology from Penang CM

BUKIT MERTAJAM: MCA Wanita chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie has demanded an apology from Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, DAP and PKR for defaming her over something she had not uttered with regards to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) issue.

Speaking to reporters in a special arranged press conference at the Barisan Nasional command centre here tonight, Heng said her comments on the GST, which was reported in a Chinese daily recently, was taken out of context.

She said the Chinese daily had took it upon itself to clarify the April 29 report and even apologised to her on the matter the following day.

Heng said Lim, DAP and PKR continued to harp on the issue by playing the racial card to create disharmony between the diverse races in the country.

"It is unethical and irresponsible for Lim, DAP and PKR to continue to harp on the issue. It is especially so for a person like Lim's stature.

"I am very disappointed and angry with his conduct. I want Lim, DAP and PKR to apologise to all Malaysians for misleading them with their unwarranted actions," she said.

Heng said she had even lodged a police report and a complaint with the Election Commission after several banners of her, with the words "Melayu bayar lebih GST", found its way in several places in Permatang Pauh.

Heng said it was clear that Lim, DAP and PKR had deliberately used the issue, not only to victimise her, by also BN's candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election, Suhaimi Sabudin.

Meanwhile, Heng said whatever policies implemented by the BN government were inclusive and took into account the people's views.

Polling for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat has been set for tomorrow.
