ALOR STAR: Two friends were sent to the gallows by the High Court, here, today for drug trafficking committed three years ago.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab passed the death sentence on Siva a/l Krishnan, 32, and Satish a/l Subramaniam, 22, after the defence failed to raise any reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case.
Siva, a mechanic, and Satish, a wireman, were charged with trafficking in 196.4 gm of drugs (156.1 gm of heroin and 40.3 gm of monoacethylmorphine) on July 19, 2012 at about 7pm in front of the HPA building, Jalan Cempaka 1, Bandar Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani.
The offence was committed under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B (2) of the same Act and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
DPP Naizatul Zima Tajudin appeared for the prosecution while the accused were represented by counsel T.Jayaraj. --Bernama
