Najib improves security to curb intrusion in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has done a lot for Sabah especially in terms of improving the security here, said Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

The leader of the Barisan Nasional component party said Najib had introduced measures like forming of Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) and adding security assets to curb intrusion and reduce security issues, while “the previous prime minister did not take any actions.”

"These are steps which we can evidently see now including establishment of Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on immigrants in Sabah. During former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's time there was none of these.

"We cannot evaluate based on some accusation or criticisms, especially when we talked about Sabah when the prime minister has done a lot for the state.

"So why do we need to simply listen and follow anyone who wants to take him (Najib) down? We need to look at it rationally," he said to reporters after chairing the RCI on immigrants in Sabah's technical committee meeting here.
