Axiata Board to monitor Celcom more closely: Azman

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd’s board of directors will be meeting more regularly to keep close tabs of the company's progress following the company’s poor showing compared to its parent, Axiata Group Bhd and its subsidiaries in the region.

Speaking to the media after Axiata Group’s shareholders meeting today, chairman Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar said the Group is seeing signs of positive recovery from Celcom and is confident of is performance in the second half of 2015.

"There will be more clarity in three months. It is a bit premature to conclude now," Azman said when asked about any possibility of the headline KPIs being revised.

Axiata president and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim said Celcom's IT transformation has been resolved and now Celcom is looking at its 19,000 dealers and restoring their confidence following hiccups in service during the IT transformation.
