RAMADAN: Fasting no excuse for low productivity

I HAVE always seemed to be critical when it comes to things that affect public services and delivery.

But certainly not this time around, as I waited in cool comfort for my number to be called and be served at the Pos Malaysia’s Taman Tun Dr Ismail branch.

It was hot and dry outside, and it was the fasting month of Ramadan.

However, it was a long cool wait for me. I didn’t mind, as there was PosTV to keep me entertained.

All these and more are simply because the employees there are so welcoming and efficiently fast in their delivery.

This is very commendable because even though it is the fasting month, they are productive and seem to be in high spirits to serve the customers.

Fasting or lack of sleep should not be made an excuse to be less productive. In fact, with no lunch or tea break in between, one should be more productive and customer-friendly.

Fasting during Ramadan teaches Muslims good virtues and reflections. To deliver one’s duty with a sincere heart, more so, with a smile, is a trait of goodness that is highly rewarding in this world and the hereafter.

As they say, fasting “is an act of worship, giving back what we always knew never really belonged to us, so that God can bestow on us, something greater”. So, why don’t we make this Ramadan a special one for us and for all?
