Op Warta: Jail term, RM6,000 fine for unemployed man

BALIK PULAU: A 35-year-old unemployed man was fined RM6,000 in default of 200 days in jail for failing to settle his 19 traffic summonses.

Azizan Abdul Aziz was charged with 27 traffic offences, which includes driving without a license, driving a vehicle with out insurance, driving a vehicle without road tax and driving a vehicle without lights.

He was accused of committing the offences at the southwest district between April 14, 2002 and Feb 20, 2014.

He had 18 arrest warrants to his name for the said offences.

Azizan pleaded guilty to the offences under Section 26(1) Section 90 and Section 15(1)A Road Transport Act 1987.

Magistrate Nurulrasyidah Mohd Akit fined Azizan RM300 in default of 10 days jail for each of the 20 offences and freed him of wrongdoing with warning for the remaining seven offences.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Syafiq Mahadi prosecuted.

Azizan was arrested by police yesterday during the nationwide Op Warta crackdown against traffic offenders.
