PARIT BUNTAR: A 25-year-old grass cutter ran helter skelter when his machine hit an old mortar bomb at Kampung Tebuk Haji Musa, here today.
In the 9am incident, Mohd Khairul Abdul Rahman, 25, was cutting the grass near a drain when the rotating blade of the grass cutting machine suddenly hit an hard object.
When he inspected the object, Khairul was surprised to see it was actually a bomb.
He immediately fled the scene and lodged a report at a the nearest police station.
Kerian district police chief Superintendent Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob when contacted confirmed the incident and said that the live bomb was safely detonated by the Bomb Disposal Unit from the state police headquarter at 2.25pm today.
