KL shares remain lower, CI down 19.89 points

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares on Bursa Malaysia resumed the afternoon session easier, with the the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) down 19.89 points at 1,767.61 at 3.05 pm, weighed down by trade and services stocks.

Among top losers were Tenaga, which fell 54 sen to RM13.16, while Petronas Dagangan decreased 52 sen to RM19.22 and Pos Malaysia erased 34 sen to RM4.60.

There were 768 losers and 104 gainers, while 194 counters were unchanged, 762 untraded and 15 others suspended. Turnover stood at 1.22 billion shares worth RM1.04 billion.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank declined 10 sen to RM9.16, Public Bank was down 18 sen to RM18.96 and Axiata eased 3.0 sen to RM6.49.

AirAsia X remained the most actively-traded stock with its shares 1.0 sen better at 28 sen while Frontken dwindled 2.0 sen to 28 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index declined 137.16 points to 12,216.25, the FBM Emas Syariah Index lost 171.73 points to 12,666.19 and the FBMT100 Index was 126.17 points lower at 11,901.43.

The FBM 70 erased 112.05 points to 13,341.79 and the FBM Ace fell 252.13 points to 6,639.34. Sector-wise, the Finance Index was down 136.34 points to 15,811.43, the Industrial Index trimmed 27.71 points to 3,230.3, and the Plantation Index declined 42.64 points to 7,449.1. – Bernama
