Kafa teacher breach employment agreement terms: JAIS director

SHAH ALAM: The termination services of Fardhu Ain and Kifayah (KAFA) teacher Ekhsan Bukharee was due to the fact that he had made a public statement, said Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Haris Kasim.

“JAIS had to dismiss Ekhsan services because he had breached one of the terms in the employment of agreement. He should have come see me first before making any public statement to the media. His act was an act of an individual.

“We did not say that he can’t appeal. If he wants to, he needs to write in an official letter,” he said at a press conference held at Sultan Idris Shah building, after officiating JAIS’s 24-hour hotline new number.

Currently, there are 6,000 KAFA teachers in Selangor and 200 of them have been in teaching for more than 10 years, he said.

At the event, Haris said the new 24-hour hotline number will be centralised to JAIS headquarters where it would be easier for the operator to monitor calls and the complaints received, closely.

“The new number is 1800-88-2424. Each calls made will be analysed such as, where is the call from, what type of complain and where it is happening. We want to ensure that all complaints receive are handled properly. Any calls that are made will be recorded.

“Previously, we have been using landline as a hotline number, and now the old number is no longer in service,” he said.
