KL shares continue downtrend at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares on Bursa Malaysia continued the downtrend on weak buying sentiment at mid-afternoon today with the key benchmark index 12.32 per cent easier..

As at 3.18 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,751.75 points.

Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 574 to 180, while 276 counters were unchanged, 797 untraded and 25 others suspended. Turnover stood at 1.15 billion shares worth RM1.14 billion.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank declined 7.0 sen to RM9.08, Public Bank slipped 32 sen to RM18.68, Axiata fell 3.0 sen to RM6.57, while Tenaga was flat at RM13.30.

Among actives, Xinghe and Frontken eased half-a-sen each to 6.5 sen and 28.5 sen respectively, while Sumatec added 1.0 sen to 20 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index declined 81.58 points to 12,118.41, the FBM Emas Syariah Index shed 79.77 points to 12,592.61 and the FBMT100 Index was 77.59 points lower at 11,803.67.

The FBM 70 eased 66.67 points to 13,266.6 and the FBM ACE slid 94.6 points to 6,616.81. Sector-wise, the Finance Index fell 112.23 points to 15,616.85, the Industrial Index trimmed 6.75 points to 3,198.12, and the Plantation Index declined 109.11 points to 7,297.62. – Bernama
