Floria presents China-Malaysia Friendship Garden

PUTRAJAYA: The China-Malaysia Friendship Garden, an initiative taken to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and China was officially opened at Anjung Floria, here, today.

The garden was officially opened by the Federal Territories (FT) Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor alongside China’s Dongguan Municipal Government deputy mayor Yang Xiao Tang.

“I would like to commend the government of Guangdong Province in China, the Dongguan Municipal Government, Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) and the Chinese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for their collaborative effort to make this garden a reality.

“This garden is dedicated to the enduring friendship between China and Malaysia which has shared a long tradition of mutual understanding,” said Tengku Adnan at the launch.

Located on a 0.24 hectare land, it is the first garden of its kind built based on the Lingnan-style garden comprising of six major elements – mountain, water, stone, building, calligraphy and plants.

The limestone for the landscape which are from Yingde County in Guangdong Province were utilised to construct the mountain scenery, cliff and pool layout.

It was developed in collaboration with the Malaysia-China Friendship Association (PPMC) and built at the cost of RM1.5 million.

Present at the launch were the China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Huang Hui Kang, FT deputy minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan, FT secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan, PPj president Tan Sri Dr Aseh Che Mat and Putrajaya Floria Sdn Bhd managing director Haslinda Khalid.
