KUALA LUMPUR: Two youths drowned while swimming at a river near Kampung Orang Asli Pertak, Kuala Kubu Baru, near here, about 3pm today.
The victims, who were picnicking at the waterfall area with three other friends, were identified as W. Kevin Raj, 23, and L. Viknesh, 25.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said they received a call on the incident at 3.19pm, before a team of seven firemen from Kuala Kubu Baru fire station was dispatched to the scene.
"The responding team then conducted a search and rescue mission, before finding the victims at 4.08pm and 4.21pm, respectively.
"A medical team from Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital pronounced them dead at the scene," he said.
Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent Supramaniam Ramasamy said the victims' bodies were sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
