KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) today dismissed as nothing more than a rumour that an earthquake and a tsunami will strike Pahang in the next 36 hours.
It said in a statement that the news circulating on the social media had no truth to it.
“As such, the people are advised not to easily believe any advice or warning circulated on the social media that does not come from MetMalaysia,” it added.
The people can verify any information with the department at http://met.gov.my; official mobile web m.met.gov.my or via the Facebook and Twitter pages, the department said.
They could also contact the MetMalaysia hotline at 1300 22 1MET (1638), it added. -- Bernama
