Implement now, not later

I READ with disbelief that the government’s approach on the compulsory implementation of child car seats is to put on hold until 2019, citing international standard practice that you need to first educate the people on this.

The government should view the safety concerns of passengers as a priority.

Look around us: when on the roads, you see that the majority of families with children do not conform with the safety standards — they do not strap their children in car safety seats.

Is there a need to educate the people? Most countries have made child safety seats mandatory. Why wait?
