RM8.5m allocated to upgrade RMN mosque in Lumut: Najib

LUMUT: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has agreed to allocate RM8.5million to upgrade the Royal Malaysian Navy mosque in Lumut.

Speaking after performing terawih prayer here today, Najib said he realised that it was the time for the navy camp to have a better and bigger place of worship.

“The upgrading process will enable the mosque to capacitate from 3,000 to 5,000 people,” he said.

Najib said the government would continue to uphold the welfare of members of the armed forces in all aspects.

“I understand the challenges faced by the armed forces as I had served as the Defence Minister for 14 years.

“From safeguarding our borders to fighting piracy, the armed forces have always made us feel safe.

“It is because of you that 28 million Malaysians are able to feel safe and in peace,” he said.

He also congratulates the Navy for their outstanding performance during the hijacking of Malaysian vessel MT Orkim Harmony by pirates recently.
