Bursa Malaysia broadly higher

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia was broadly higher at mid-afternoon today helped by the overnight Fitch Ratings’ upgrade on Malaysia’s outlook.

At 3.03 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, increased 27.79 points to 1,734.43 points.

MISC led the rise in the composite index with 3.572 points followed by Digi with 2.840 points and IHH Healthcare with 2.717 points.

The biggest gainer was British American Tobacco. It rose RM1.10 to RM63.10, with a total of 69,100 shares traded.

In the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers by 632 to 161 while 235 counters were unchanged, 778 untraded and 35 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.35 billion shares worth RM1.23 billion.

Among actives, Vsolar, KNM and iDimension each inched up half-a-sen to 13 sen, 62.5 sen and 13.5 sen, respectively, while Connectcounty eased three sen to 27.5 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index rose 199.51 points to 11,971.45, FBMT100 Index advanced 195.58 points to 11,654.32, FBM Emas Syariah Index surged 247.51 points to 12,456.36, FBM Ace chalked up 108.47 points to 6,328.76 and the FBM 70 perked 250.38 points to 12,977.49.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index rose 186.18 points to 15,618.74, Plantation Index surged 92.23 points higher to 7,360.76 and the Industrial Index firmed 71.73 points to 3,204.08. – BERNAMA
