National U-13 squad move into Iber Cup quarterfinals in Portugal

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Under-13 (U-13) squad wrapped up their Group B match in style by beating Portugal’s SC Linda-a-Velha 3-0 to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the Iber Cup 2015 at the Oeiras Stadium in Portugal, yesterday.

Fresh from winning the Iber Cup Del Sol title in Spain last week, the National U-13 squad under the National Football Development Programme (NFDP) emerged as the group champion with an unbeaten record after securing their third consecutive victory.

The squad under coach Lim Teong Kim are scheduled to play Group F runner-up CF “Os Belenenses” G of Portugal in the quarterfinal at the Jamor Sports Complex pitch on Friday.

Teong Kim’s boys had earlier defeated Segeltorps IF of Sweden 2-1 in the opening match before mauling home side, Dragon Force Lisboa 7-0 in the second match played at the Jamor Sports Complex in Portugal on Tuesday.
