Short-term rates to remain stable

KUALA LUMPUR: Short-term interbank rates are expected to remain stable today on Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)’s intervention to absorb excess liquidity from the financial system. BNM estimated today’s liquidity at RM28.01 billion in the conventional system and RM9.99 billion in Islamic funds.

The central bank will conduct two conventional money market tenders worth RM1.5 billion each for seven days and 33 days, respectively, and a RM2.8 billion Qard tender for seven days to 13 days.

At 4 pm, BNM will conduct up to RM25 billion in conventional overnight tender, as well as, a RM7.2 billion Qard overnight tender. --BERNAMA
