Six claim trial to terrorism charges

KUALA LUMPUR: Five men and a teenager claimed trial at the High Court today to criminal conspiracy to promote terrorism in Malaysia.

Previously on May 20, brothers Mohd Anwar Azmi and Mohd Nurkamal, aged 32 and 30, Mohd Hafifi Tarmizi, 25, Izwan Shameer Suzaimi, 24, Muhammad Luqman Hakim Abdul Aziz, 21, and a 16-year-old boy were charged at the Kajang magistrate's court.

However their plea was not recorded then. Today, they pleaded not guilty to committing the offence at No. 2, Lot 3917, Kg Bistari, Sg Michu, Bt 13, Hulu Langat, Selangor, between April 24 and 25.

They may be jailed up to 30 years and fined if convicted.

Judge Kamardin Hashim fixed five days from Dec 7 for trial. Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin prosecuted.

Anwar and Nurkamal were represented by counsel K.L. Chee while Hafifi was represented by counsel Ridha Abdah Subri. Luqman, Abdul Aziz and the male teen were unrepresented.
