Remains of T-Team player Faramola Oniya laid to rest in Seremban

SEREMBAN: The remains of the late T-Team skipper David Faramola Oniya was buried at the Sikamat Christian Cemetery, here, at 11.30am today.

The hearse, carrying his remains from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, arrived at the cemetery at 11am where about 20 of his team mates and players from other teams were waiting to pay their last respects.

Faramola’s elder brother, Adefaramade Oniya, 34, and his agent, Felix Obina, 31 and the T-Team management were also present.

Faramola, 30, died of heart complications on June 13 and his remains were at the Raja Perempuan Zainab 11 Hospital in Kota Baharu, Kelantan.

Adefaramade said his family had decided to bury his late brother here.

He said all funeral arrangements were made and financed by the T-Team management and the State Government of Terangganu with the cooperation of the Nigerian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Adefaramade who arrived here from Nigeria on June 26, thanked all parties who had assisted in the funeral of his brother.

“I am very satisfied with the burial arrangements. My family is very sad with his death because he is a good brother and had helped the family a lot,” he told reporters here, today.

He said Faramola was the youngest of six siblings and had played football for clubs in Nigeria since the age of 17.

Obina said Faramola had only recently joined T-Team, which was his first club in Asia.

“Prior to this, he was playing football in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan,” he added. --Bernama
