Muhyiddin calls for thorough probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), police, Bank Negara Malaysia together with the Attorney-General's Chambers must immediately investigate the allegations made by American daily newspaper The Wall Street Journal against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the serious accusation could jeopardise the good image of the Malaysian premier.

"The serious allegation can tarnish the credibility and integrity of Najib as prime minister and leader of our government. This issue has grabbed the attention of not the people but also international media and surely this touches the general interests.

"Therefore, I urge the MACC, police, Bank Negara Malaysia and the Attorney-General's Chambers to conduct their investigation at once," he said in a statement on his Facebook page today.

Muhyiddin said all parties should remain calm while waiting for the authorities to run the investigation.
