KL shares easier at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: – Bursa Malaysia was easier at mid-afternoon today on selling activities led by finance-related counters.

At 3.17 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,713.08, down by 1.22 per cent.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank lost nine sen to RM9.19, Public Bank fell eight sen to RM18.80, Hong Leong dropped 22 sen to RM13.38 and RHB Capital slid 16 sen to RM7.43.

On the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers 676 to 100, while 213 counters were unchanged, 810 untraded and 22 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.07 billion shares worth RM791.29 million.

Among the actives, APFT Bhd was flat at 20.5 sen, Frontken Corporation fell 1.5 sen to 25.5 sen, as both Scan Associates and AirAsiaX declined half-a-sen each to 10.5 sen and 20 sen respectively.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index declined 155.66 points to 11,802.79, the FBMT100 Index contracted 149.64 points to 11,495.16 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index trimmed 178.44 points to 12,252.63.

The FBM Ace dipped 143.44 points to 6,150.36 as the FBM70 lost 194.20 points to 12,742.21.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index declined 169.33 points to 15,430.06, the Plantation Index lost 66.24 points for 7,395.60 and the Industrial Index was 49.25 points lower at 3,153.49. -- BERNAMA
