A mother cuts newly born baby, disposes body parts in septic tank

ALOR STAR: Police found six body parts of a new born baby, who was believed to have been dismembered using sharp weapon, in a septic tank at a house in Manggol Jitra yesterday.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Superitendent Abd Rahim Abdullah said there were other body parts of the baby which has yet to be found.

He said the baby's mother, aged 31, had initially complaint of pain on the waist while she was staying at her grandfather's house.

Her family then rushed her to clinic for treatment, where she was later given medicine for low sugar level by the doctor.

"She fell asleep after consuming the medicine and woke up at 1pm, complaining of stomach pain and dashed to the toilet.

"She only came out of the toilet about an hour later, after giving birth inside the it, and kept the incident from her family members.

"However, the family member realised the suspect was bleeding and rushed her to Jitra Hospital at 1.45pm where the doctor who treated her noticed injuries at the suspect's private part similar to delivery mark," he said in a press release today.

According to Rahim, the doctor immediately questioned the suspect who then confessed she had dumped the baby which has been cut into six parts into the toilet bowl.

Suspect was detained and currently receiving treatment at Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Star for bleeding.

The case was investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing birth by secretly disposing the body.
