Magnitude 4.4 quake rocks Ranau

KOTA KINABALU: A weak earthquake with magnitude of 4.4 occurred at 12.10am.

Sabah Meteorological department reported the quake located 8km northwest of Ranau.

The tremors were felt here, Penampang, Kota Belud and Ranau.

Molina Gudin, 28, from Penampang said she felt her bed was moving and experienced brief vertigo when it happened.

"I thought I was sick at that time and only realised it was another tremor," she said, adding she immediately checked on Meteorological department's website after the incident.

There were more than 100 aftershocks recorded after June 5 quake measured 5.9 on Richter scale which had claimed 18 lives.
