3 fishermen adrift at sea for two days rescued: MMEA

ALOR SETAR: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency in Kuala Kedah has rescued three fishermen adrift at sea off Kuala Jerlun for two days in bad weather.

Its enforcement chief, Ahmad Kamal Mohd Noor, said the fishermen, in their 50s and 60s, were rescued at 7.30pm yesterday after they were found clinging onto floats and drums about two nautical miles from shore following the sinking of their boat.

They had anchored their boat and remained at sea for two days due to bad weather, but water seeped into the boat and it sank, he told Bernama today.

The uninjured fishermen were sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a medical examination, he said. --BERNAMA
