KL shares trend lower at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares on Bursa Malaysia continued to trend lower at mid-afternoon today weighed down by losses in selected index-linked companies, dealers said.

At 3.03pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.89 points lower at 1,716.87.

Among the top losers, Kuala Lumpur Kepong lost 16 sen to RM22.36, CIMB Group fell 13 sen to RM5.37, Hong Leong was down 16 sen to RM13.50 and RHB Capital lost 11 sen to RM7.28.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index 24.70 points to 11.867.46, FBMT100 Index went down 23.38 points to 11,535.84 and the FBM Syariah Index slid 4.23 points to 12,341.44.

The FBM Ace eased 17.15 points to 6,539.55 and the FBM70 edged down 15.88 points to 12,843.91.

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index fell 20.33 points to 7,403.88, the Finance Index declined 87.58 points to 15,460.78 and the Industrial Index went down 1.59 points to 3,180.93.

Losers led gainers by 496 to 297, while 260 counters were unchanged, 771 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.48 billion shares worth RM958.55 million.

Among actives, Ikhmas Jaya rose 20.5 sen to 77.5 sen, The Media Shoppe was half-a-sen better at 6.5 sen, iDimension improved two sen to 13 sen and 1Utopia was flat at 4.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell one sen to RM9.22, Public Bank and Sime Darby were flat at RM19 and RM8.48m respectively, while TNB was down two sen to RM12.26.--BERNAMA
