NFCorp former consultant injunction extended

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court extended the injunction against National Feedlot Corporation's (NFCorp) former consultant Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail until disposal of a related libel suit against him.

Judicial commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab allowed the extension bid by NFCorp's chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail while in her chambers this afternoon.

Salleh's counsel Al-Firdaus Shahrul Naing said Zaki agreed with their arguments that there is a risk of the NFCorp chairman suffering damages if the restraining order is not given to maintain the status quo between parties.

Al-Firdaus added that the court also set hearing of the suit for three days beginning Nov 2.

Counsel J. Leela appeared for Shamsubahrin in today's matter.

On July 3, Salleh filed the libel action over Shamsubahrin's six FB postings related to his(Shamsubahrin) cheating and money-laundering conviction.

Salleh claimed that Shamsubahrin's postings, uploaded between May 19 and June 23, painted the conviction as an attempt to divert public attention from the NFCorp issue involving the government's RM250 million loan to it to fund a cattle-rearing project.

On May 18, the Sessions Court found Shamsubahrin guilty of five counts of cheating Salleh and 17 counts of money laundering involving RM1.755 million.
