Muhyiddin hopes 1MDB probe resolved soon (with video)

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hopes the probe into the alleged 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandals would be resolved soon.

Speaking at a packed press conference at his residence here in Bukit Damansara, Muhyiddin clad in a grey silk batik shirt, he said the authorities must seek to resolve the matter quickly, as the people were waiting for an answer.

"We will see what the authorities are doing (to solve this problem), and we hope that it will be done thoroughly and as soon as possible.

If it takes too long, the public will question their credibility," he said, adding that he was confident that the matter would be resolved.

He added that a 1MDB fact sheet had been presented to cabinet ministers, but said it was not comprehensive.

"It was a brief one. It would only take five to ten minutes to finish reading and to me, it was not enough.

"1MDB is more than just a fact sheet, that's why I feel it is necessary for me to gather more feedback which I feel were suitable to solve it.

“ I am confident that the 1MDB issue will be solved, but it is a big issue. We await the full report,” he said adding that he hoped the matter could be resolved as possible.

Muhyiddin who was accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman at the press conference also repeated that the move to drop him from the Cabinet is the prerogative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“It is his right. I accept the decision,” said the Pagoh Member of Parliament.

The Umno deputy president also reiterated that he will remain loyal to the party and Barisan Nasional and will continue to fulfil his responsibilities.

“I have done what I feel was the best for the party, be it for the unity of Umno and also the country. I will continue doing so,” he said.

He pledged his continued support in assisting Umno president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Umno Supreme Council and party members.

Muhyiddin who was dropped as Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister in cabinet reshuffle yesterday also said he will not participate in any efforts which will damage the party’s unity and priority should be given to the party, the country and its people.

“Unity of the party is important. I will not participate in any efforts that involves disunity. We will continue to work together with all in Umno and BN.

“I appreciate the support from Umno members and the public, but we must prioritise the party, the country and the people,” he said.
